At Joten Lake Retreat Center, try bird watching, nature hikes, using the bike trails in the area, sledding, snowshoeing or cross country skiing in the winter.  Use the fire pit at Joten Lake and make hobo dinners, hot dogs over the fire and s'mores.   In the evening enjoy a star filled sky without other lights to take away from the vast night sky.  In the spring enjoy many dragonflies and in the summer nights see fire flies.  Maybe frogs or a turtle surprises you on a walk.  You can see many deer, sometimes a fox and the marsh is filled with ducks and loons.

Utilize the area's "rails to trails" has a trailhead in the nearby downtown Dalton and this trail is great for group bike rides or snowmobiling.  The area has many lakes for swimming and fishing.  There are many area golf courses.  Drive the scenic Ottertail Highway or Viking Trail to explore the beautiful lakes, farms and woodlands. Please see "Local Activities" for more details on all of these ideas and restaurants and shopping too.
